Closing Hypothetical Session

Friday 12 September 2008, 1620 - 1700

The multiple roles of the engineer as manager, team leader and community leader bring challenges that go far beyond the design brief and project schedule. This final session of the conference confronts a panel of seasoned professionals (engineer and non-engineer) with a situation and decisions that can and do happen every day in major projects. Moderated by Geraldine Mellet the hypothetical shines the spotlight on the broader issues of business ethics, community relations, commercial reality and political intrigue. It also brings into the conversation the perspectives of those professions with whom engineers deal every day and some with whom the engineer leader may have only passing acquaintance - but should maybe know more about. It promises to be a fitting finale to this wide ranging conference.
